Russian Solitaire: learn through an example

Start Russian Solitaire by looking at the playing area and its controls. Build four suit foundations from ace to king. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls. Identify the playing area and the controls you need. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move.

Yukon-style deal, same-suit building, no stock. Free solo play, no wagering.

Practice beyond the first move

Locate the buttons and input area before beginning a long round. Use the on-screen labels to avoid an accidental restart. Notice the feedback after each input.

What the game asks you to do

Build four suit foundations from ace to king. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Return to the instructions when a step is unclear.

Work through the instructions

  1. Move any face-up card and its tail onto the next higher rank of the same suit. Kings fill empty columns.
  2. Select a face-up card and then the destination pile or Empty slot.
  3. Use foundations where available; full Spider or Scorpion runs clear automatically.
  4. Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.

The controls to know

Click or tap cards and piles. Wide tableaus scroll inside the game; use Undo, Hint and New deal where shown. Keep the playing area visible while using these controls. Contact us with the game and device if a control does not respond.

An example to follow

A heart 6 fits a heart 7, not a spade 7. Use the example as a guide rather than a substitute for reading your board. Choose a deliberate next step.

A common point of confusion

Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. A different version of the game may use a different rule. Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board.
