Play Snake with the rules at hand

Use a short break to learn the rhythm of Snake. Keep collecting apples. Hitting a wall or your body ends the round; filling the entire board wins. Use the example below to understand a decision. Compare the starting position with the example in the Guide. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move.

Try a more deliberate round

Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board. Use the example to check your reasoning.

What you need to achieve

Keep collecting apples. Hitting a wall or your body ends the round; filling the entire board wins. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Take a moment to understand the current position.

Making your moves

  1. Press Play to start the movement.
  2. Turn with arrow keys, swipes or the on-screen direction buttons.
  3. Each apple adds ten points and makes the snake longer.
  4. Pause when needed or start a new round.

Making selections and moves

Keyboard arrows, swipe gestures or the four direction buttons. Play / pause controls the movement. Use the control method described here for this activity. Contact us with the game and device if a control does not respond.

Try this example

When moving right, you may turn up or down, but cannot turn immediately left into your own neck. Compare this with the rule that governs the move. Keep the controls nearby.

An important reminder

The snake continues moving between inputs. Plan a route with space to turn. A different version of the game may use a different rule. Watch the feedback after an action. A message can explain whether the input was accepted or whether a rule needs attention.
